UPDATE - 2016 CSA SHARES ARE NOW SOLD OUT - Please provide us with your contact information if you would like to be notified when 2017 season shares become available. Send E-mail
CSA stands for “Community Supported Agriculture” and represents a way to buy your weekly produce directly from the farm. By becoming a CSA member, you pre-purchase a share of the summer’s harvest and then each week from June to October, you’ll get a box containing a wide variety of freshly picked, organic produce.
This arrangement creates several rewards for both the farmer and the consumer.
Advantages for consumers:
- Eat ultra-fresh food, with all the flavor and vitamin benefits, and no worry about pesticides or chemicals
- Visit the farm and see exactly where your food comes from and how it is raised
- Get exposed to new vegetables you may not have tried before and new ways of cooking
- Develop a relationship with the farmer who grows their food and learn more about how food is grown
- Support your local community and economy by keeping food dollars local
Advantages for farmers:
- Have an opportunity to get to know the people who eat the food they grow
- Get to spend time marketing the food early in the year, before their 16 hour days in the field begin
- Receive payment early in the season, which helps with the farm's cash flow
Following is a partial list of what you can expect to enjoy throughout the season:
- Several varieties of lettuce including romaine, leaf, kale, spinach, and arugula
- Potatoes, carrots, green beans, squash, sweet corn, cabbage, and broccoli
- Organic fed, pasture raised meat chickens
- Several varieties of peppers including bell and jalapeño
- Zucchini, cucumbers, beets, onions, radishes, tomatoes
- Strawberries, blackberries, and apples
- Several varieties of herbs including basil, oregano, cilantro, and dill
