Week #5

We spent last Sunday and Monday camping with some of Cindy's family and their exchange student from France, Martin.  As is always the case, we had a great time, and the kids wanted to extend the time spent with their cousins, so they negotiated an extra night in return for labor the next day planting, harvesting, weeding, and rock picking.  It's amazing how much work I got done on Wednesday with 6 extra farm hands.

I hope everyone enjoys this week's share, it includes fresh basil and cilantro, which made the whole garage smell awesome as we were putting totes together.  Along with the fresh herbs, this week's share includes: green onions, zucchini, green & yellow beans, and either romaine or leaf lettuce.

Big thanks to one of our shareholders, Evie Thomas, for this week's featured recipe which utilizes both the zucchini and the fresh basil.  Yum!

Week #4 CSA Shares

Wow our 4th week already!  This week's baskets will have freshly harvested carrots, red and green romaine lettuce, radishes, snap peas (they are just about done so just a small serving this week) and arugula makes another appearance (if you didn't get a chance to try the Arugula Pasta recipe the first week, now is your chance!)

Week #2 CSA shares

Chickens are now all in the freezer waiting for pickups!  The guys at Smith Meats in Millington did a great job.  The birds are a bit smaller than I was hoping for (2.5 - 3.5 lbs), but I learned a lot, and our organic feed supplier will be happy that we will be purchasing a lot more feed for the next batch.

Along with the chickens, shares this week will include Green Romain, Green Leaf Lettuce, and some Sugar Snap Peas.  Hopefully with the warmer days and nights and the nice rain we received this morning we are only a couple more weeks away from some bulkier share baskets.

We really enjoyed getting to see everyone last week and hope everyone enjoyed their baskets.
